What is Computer?
Computer is an electronic machine that processes data.The Information which is given to the computer is called data. Computer is a very fast device which works very fast. It saves our lot of time and energy. It never does make mistake. It can store a lot of data.
Types of computer
- Personal computer: Personal computer is a single user computer which is basically used in homes,offices etc.
- Workstation: Workstation is also a single user computer but it is much faster than personal computer because it has very fast processers.
- Minicomputer: A mini computer is capable of supporting thousands of users at one time. It is also very fast.
- Mainframe: Mainframe computer are also a multi user computer Which is capable of supporting the hundreds of thousands users simultaneously.
Some basic parts of a computer system are:
- Monitor
- CPU (Central Processing Unit)
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Speakers
- Printer
- UPS
- Joystick
Input Devices: Input devices are those devices which are used to give instructions or inputs to computer.
Keyboard: Keyboard is an input device which is used in typing numbers,alphabets and giving other instructions to computer.

Processing Device:Processing device is basically used in converting the input to output. When we give any instruction or input to the computer then the processing device converts the input into output.The processing device of computer is CPU
Output Devices:
The parts of the computer which gives us the result of our given input.
Monitor: A monitor looks like a TV screen. The inputs which are given to the computer by keyboard and mouse are show monitor screen.

Storage Devices:
The parts of computer which helps in storing a data are called storage devices. It helps in storing data in computer permanently.
Hard Disk: There is a floppy disk inside the CPU. Which is used to store data.

Floppy Disk:Floppy disk is used to store small amount of data. It has very low storage capacity.
Compact Disc (CD):Compact disc is also used to store data. It has a much more storage capacity than floppy disk. It only works when it is inserted in CD drive which is fixed in CPU.
